OMG! Did I miss that?

Nice game this evening, good opening, won a piece after my opponent miscalculated, and then all I had to do is stifle my opponents counterplay. Having done that, deal with a couple of last gasp tricks, and then finish the game off with my extra rook. Except both myself and my opponent missed a rather large plot hole. 39.Qf4?? looks like it kills the last of Blacks play but ...

During the game I considered this line up to Kg3, but missed the simple ...g5. At that stage I lost hope and thought that the unavoidable exchange of Queens would finish the game.

During the game I considered this line up to Kg3, but missed the simple ...g5, as at that stage I had already accepted the outcome of the game. Shaun outplayed me in the opening. Against the 17. Be7, I found a nice 17...Nxg3 with equality. And then after 18. Bxf8 I should have simply taken the Bishop with ...Rxf8, returning my Knight to h5. Instead I went for a stupid 18...Nde2+.
